How to Increase Your Home's Value

Randal:
Do you wait until the last minute? Welcome back to Stay Focused, Focus Real Estate's weekly video series. We're here to chat with you about-

Erik:
Preparing.

Randal:
Preparing. So I have to be honest with you, it shocks me the most valuable possession, investment that most people have, not everybody, but most people, is their home. They want to move. You call us. You're ready to go, next week. Can you come over Thursday for photos? Shocking, really.

Erik:
How soon can you list by house? How soon can you have it on the market?

Randal:
And we do also realize that sometimes the home is an impulse purchase and you may have bought a home, and then all of a sudden we get a call, "I went to an open house last week. I decided I wanted to buy this house. I need to sell my house. What can you do for me?" Okay. So we get that. But we're going to put those aside and talk about how can we be your concierge?

Erik:
Yeah. How to make the most-

Randal:
How to make the most out of the selling process. One of the most important things that I think that we do for sellers that give us tons of time in advance, we call so many people in the fall to say, "Are you thinking of selling in the spring?" Do you know how horrible everything looks when the snow is melted? And it just looks, eh. Let's get photos of your house this fall so that we can have some really... Or summer, So we have pretty photos for the spring.

Erik:
A little thought ahead can go a long way and can have a big return for you as a seller. And we'll work with you on that. Give us some time, or we'll be happy to work with you with as much notice as possible. And getting things like windows cleaned, the yards cleaned up, walls painted, decluttering. Those sometimes are the things that take the most in the preparation for a home sale. For some sellers, it takes them a really long time.

Randal:
A really long time. There's a private joke there. Anyway, those are important things because really at the end of the day, sexy sells and the better your house looks, the better it presents to buyers out there, the more value you're going to see on the back end and that's our goal. It's very parallel with yours in helping exceed your expectations on that sale price and really getting the house sold and make it easy as possible for you.

Erik:
Don't procrastinate. Time to have-

Randal:
Is there a lesson here?

Erik:
There's a lesson.

Randal:
Indeed. Indeed. Start a little early, give us a shout early, let us know how we can be your concierge to help you get all of the service professionals and all the things done. And also we're really good, believe it or not, at helping you do what? Focus. Focus on the most important project that costs the lowest amount to give you the highest return.

Randal:
Thanks for watching today, everybody. Until next time, stay tuned and stay focused.

Randal:
Are you a procrastinator?

Erik:
Let me think about it.
