Erik:
Want to know how to give your home a facelift from the inside? Stay tuned.
Randal:
Just want to give you a few suggestions on how to give your house a quick little facelift, maybe a little bit of modernization to give it a little bit more of a contemporary look.
Erik:
Make it look little more modern and make you feel a little bit better about it without spending a ton of money and going through big renovations and big projects.
Randal:
Nice little touches for you. Certainly one of the thing that's trending huge right now is pink. Right?
Erik:
Yeah.
Randal:
I'm wearing it.
Erik:
Pink accents. Anything pink, really.
Randal:
Pretty much anything pink. Pink basically is the new gray. So, pink is the new neutral.
Erik:
Ah, yeah. I got the gray. You got the pink.
Randal:
What are you going to do? Call me-
Erik:
I'm old. You're new.
Randal:
Call me a couch. So, anything that you want to throw in your house, great little pink accessories. They've got pink furniture. People are painting their walls pink. So, pink is trending right now. A huge way to make an impact on your house is what? One of your favorite things.
Erik:
Light fixtures.
Randal:
Good light fixtures.
Erik:
In fact, you were just looking at light fixtures online earlier this morning.
Randal:
Well, if you want a way to waste a couple of hours, just get on YLighting. That'll certainly pull you down a rabbit hole.
Erik:
But you know what? Being in the real estate industry, we walk and see a lot of houses, a lot of properties, and when someone has a few nice light fixtures, it just says quality. It's a nice detail. It's a touch.
Randal:
It's a really nice way to give your place an update.
Erik:
Without doing a total rehab of the whole place.
Randal:
The next thing you can do is some rugs. You know, I spent time when I was a youth in Finland, and they had two sets of rugs. They had two sets of rugs there, most families. They had a spring and summer set, and they had a fall and winter set, and it was really a great way to breathe some fresh air into your house by switching those out. So, there's a great way to add a little life to your house where they may not have been much.
Erik:
So, again, it's another accent. It can lighten up a space or change the look and feel and size, the dimension of a room.
Randal:
Yup. Any of you that are old as we are, remember gold in the '80s? It's back, ladies and gentleman. It's back with a vengeance. Of course, we're seeing gold a little more muted than it was before. It's not necessarily a high-polished gold. There's a lot of brass. There's a lot of brushed gold and brushed brass.
Erik:
And there's a lot of wood with the gold, so that the wood tones it down, warms it up, so it's not just a shiny, harsh gold. A lot of wood and golds together makes it look really modern. It's trendy.
Randal:
The last item on our list was really some natural wood accents. I want to say maple, it's not maple. It's actually walnut is so huge. It's been big for a while. Tops of our desks are walnut. It's not brand new, but it's a nice way to breathe a little life into your house as well.
Erik:
And you're seeing like the natural, things with live edge, with the bark around it, like shelves-
Randal:
Oh, yeah. That's right. Yeah.
Erik:
... and bowls and things made of wood that's got that kind of rough look to it a little bit.
Randal:
So, this is one of my favorite things. Of course, if you have any questions, let us know. I occasionally get a call from a client to say, "Hey, pop by the house and see what we can do to kind of give ourselves a little touch of freshness, just to give a little more modernization." So anyway, some ideas for you.
Erik:
Also, when you're looking online because you're bored, you're sitting at home, look online, some suggestions for you.
Randal:
Until next time, stay healthy, stay tuned, and stay focused.
Erik:
Stay tuned, and stay focused. (singing)
